This morning all of my synchronization jobs in DPM, and my overnight Backup Exec jobs started failing and I have what appear to be some very seriousĮrrors in my Eventlog, neither of which seem to have any available fixes when searching either this forum or the Internet. This machine replicates data using DFS to a a few servers on our network, and is our primary file share server. But no changes seem to occur.I run both Backup Exec (for long-term tape retention), and Data Protection Manager 2010 to protect various files on a Server 2008 R2 Virtual Machine.
"Recataloging Backup Set" for about 2 seconds and disappears.
When I try to run a catalog operation on this particular backup set, backup exec briefly messages Like I indicated, I have a closet full of tapes to restore from, so I'm sure that the data is on there, someway, or somehow. I am able to locate the catalog files on the server. Here is the properties of the particular backup with its associated catalog. Here is the particular backup set I am after.īut since the logs have long been truncated, the files are not cataloged for immediate recovery. Unfortunately, they let support expire some years back, so we are left to our own devices (excuse the pun) to restore this particular file data.
That same server is still around, and all backups were put to tape, which were never discarded or overwritten. But that long ago, this company was using Backup Exec 2012. We have new backup solutions in place for the majority of our recent data. I am coming into an environment where my company is looking for fileshare data from 7 years ago after the company arbitrarily asked that the retention period on this particular data increase from 2 years to 7 years.
